NPWJ and OSF hold training on documenting human rights violations against refugees and migrants

 
On 14-17 September 2015, No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) together with Open Society Foundation (OSF) are holding a training course on “Documenting Human Rights Violations”, which will be held in Skopje, Macedonia.
 
The purpose of the training is to build the capacity of civil society groups and human rights activists from Macedonia, Greece, Ungary and Serbia on documenting human rights violations, particularly in the treatment of refugees and migrants. As highlighted by the incidents occurring at the borders of these countries, refugees and migrants are exposed to the risk of multiple ill-treatments and human rights violations at the hands of the border police or other law enforcement officials.
 
The course will introduce participants to all relevant aspects linked to the documentation of human rights violations, incorporating human rights law, documentation standards, interviewing including vulnerable witnesses, safety and security and uses of documentation, both within accountability processes and for advocacy purposes including at the UN levels. Practical exercises and case studies will also be provided during the training in order to enable participants to contextualise these standards in light of the situation on the ground.
