Minister: Parallel forces under interior ministry dominating decision making in Tripoli

The Interior Minister of the Presidential Council, Fathi Bashagha, said there are armed groups and forces that are by name operating under the ministry, but in reality they are executing their own agendas away from the government's orders. In an interview with BBC Arabic, Bashagha said the parallel forces have some kind of hegemony in the decision making of the government in all fields, including politics, security and economy.

UNHCR: 1.1 million people need humanitarian assistance in Libya

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) – Libya Office has declared that 1.1 million people need humanitarian assistance in Libya. In a report on its 2018 activities in Libya, the UNHCR said 187,423 persons are internally displaced while 400,000 others have returned home.

The report indicated that the UNHCR had provided humanitarian and cash assistance to more than 92,000 persons and provided support to health and education facilities. Regarding the illegal migrants and refugees, the UNHCR said it had helped more than 10,000 persons with life-saving medical supplies.

UN Security Council says Libyan assets and their interests must remain frozen

The United Nations Security Council, putting an end to the controversy surrounding the Libyan frozen assets and their interests abroad, said in an Implementation Assistance Notice No.6 that assets owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by the Libyan Investment Authority LIA and the Libyan Africa Investment Portfolio (LAIP), held outside Libya and frozen as of September 16, 2011, remain frozen.
