Food is at the core of human rights\u2019 issues. This is especially true for indigenous peoples who enjoy a unique relationship with traditional food and land. #cop26 should take into consideration food as a focal point to protect, respect, and fulfill all human rights, including the right to adequate food, the right to health and the right to culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 2021 World Food Day, No Peace Without Justice and Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundations welcome this year\u2019s FAO theme: \u201cthe future is in our hands\u201d to stress the importance of individual, societal and international actions, and commitments to enjoy a better nutrition, a better environment and a better life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Through its campaign against deforestation in the Amazon<\/strong><\/a>, launched in 2019 with the support of the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation<\/strong><\/a> and local partners, NPWJ is at the forefront in the protection of the rights of indigenous peoples and against the impunity for ecocide and environmental damage in the region. One of the main objectives of the campaign is to raise awareness about the effects of climate crimes such as land grabbing, deforestation or water pollution as well as to promote accountability\u2019s venues for holding those responsible for crimes against nature and its defenders accountable.
