{"id":240354,"date":"2021-12-15T12:00:42","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T11:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.npwj.org\/?p=240354"},"modified":"2023-04-07T16:36:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T14:36:51","slug":"colloquium-on-the-impact-of-illicit-trade-on-human-rights-the-case-of-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.npwj.org\/it\/press-release\/colloquium-on-the-impact-of-illicit-trade-on-human-rights-the-case-of-syria\/","title":{"rendered":"Colloquium on the impact of illicit trade on Human Rights: the case of Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>Side-event, 20th ASP to the ICC, The Hague, 15 December 2021, 16:00 -17:30<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the margins of the 20th Session of the International Criminal Court Assembly of States Parties, No Peace Without Justice together with the Euro-Syrian Democratic Forum, the Budapest Centre for Mass Atrocities Prevention and the Sant\u2019Anna School of Advance Studies are convening a virtual \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npwj.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Illicit-Trade-Event.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Colloquium on the impact of illicit trade on Human Rights: the case of Syria<\/strong><\/a>\u201c, to be held on 15 December 2021 (from 4pm to 5.30pm, Brussels time CET).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This colloquium aims at highlighting how illicit trade and war economies have severe and tangible human rights costs by eroding the rule of law, increasing human suffering, laying the groundwork for a future based on impunity, unchecked power and criminality. Exacerbated by a complex and intertwined regional conflict, illicit trade flourishes in Syria, increasing criminal and terrorist profits, fueling political instability and human suffering and ultimately prolonging the conflict.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Simultaneous translation will be provided
