NPWJ’s LGBTI Campaign History and Activities

 
 
Since June 2010 NPWJ has been involved in an intensive lobbying campaign to denounce to international institutions and governments, grave violations of LGBTI human rights.

Here below you can find a list of the main relevant steps that had marked this campaign,  from the more recent to the older ones:
 
January 2011
Strasbourg (France): in collaboration with ALDE Group and the European LGBTI inter-group lobbying for an urgent resolution on the murder of David Kato Kisule, approved by the parliament.
Brussels (Belgium): assisting some international organizations on the coordination of protection of some Ugandan activists following the murder of David Kato Kisule.
Brussels (Belgium): participation at a few demonstrations and memorials in memory of David Kato Kisule.
Rome (Italy): participation demonstrations and memorials organized by the radical association Certi Diritti and the Italian theater company “La compagnia Teatro dell’Elfo”, in memory of David Kato Kisule.
Rome (Italy): parliamentarian motion sponsored by Italian senator Marco Perduca on the murder of David Kato Kisule.
Rome (Italy): parliamentarian motion sponsored by Italian parliamentarian Matteo Mecacci on the murder of David Kato Kisule.
 
December 2010
Strasbourg (France): in collaboration with ALDE Group and the European LGBTI inter-group lobbying for an urgent resolution on Uganda approved by the parliament.

Rome (Italy): Press Conference at the Italian Senate with David Kato Kisule (Uganda) human rights defenders and LGBTI activist, and Nikolai Alekseev (Head of the Russian LGBT Human Rights Project, and Head of Moscow Pride)
Rome (Italy): Meeting with several Italian Senators and Parliamentarians with David Kato Kisule on the LGBTI Human Rights violation in Uganda; The Anti-Homosexuality Bill, and AIDS/HIV and Ugandan Government’s policy
