Delivered by Hussein Sabbagh on behalf of Non c’è Pace Senza Giustizia

“Today, we are confronted with the sobering findings of the latest CoI report. Its content is both distressing and alarming, shedding light on the ongoing human rights violations and atrocities committed against innocent civilians in Syria.

It is the collective responsibility of this body to respond with unwavering resolve and a firm commitment to justice and accountability. The findings of the CoI report serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for action to address the social, political and humanitarian disaster unfolding in Syria.

We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of millions of Syrians who continue to endure unimaginable hardship and brutality. The systematic violations of human rights, including indiscriminate attacks on civilians, forced displacement, torture and denial of basic human rights are clear violations of international law and must be met with decisive action. Perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions, and justice must be served for the victims and their families.

The findings of the CoI report demand nothing less than our full attention and concrete actions to address the humanitarian disaster which has been unfolding in Syria for the past 13 years.

Thank you, Mr. President”.
