The meeting also serves as a reminder of the urgent priority of reaching a lasting political solution to the Syrian war, through an inclusive and participatory process, capable to ensure redress for all victims, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation, including through accountability processes for crimes under international law that can foster national reconciliation, ensure no repetition and an end to impunity for violations of international humanitarian law.
